Celebrations for Winter Solstice
I find myself sitting alone in silence tonight, on this longest night of the year. It is a good time to reflect upon what I have learned this year. What have I struggled with this year? What have I done that I never believed I could do? In what ways have I been stuck? In what areas have I blown past any perceived limitations? What do I want to release at this time?
Earlier this evening I engaged with spirit through a fire ceremony of transformation. After opening sacred space, I built a fire and sang to it before offering tobacco. I chose a small carnation for my gift to the fire. Reflecting on a few of the patterns I am so very ready to release, I gathered the energy of those patterns and blew that energy into the flower. I said to the fire “I am releasing anything that stands in the way of stepping fully into my purpose and being of service.” Placing my gift in the fire with reverence and respect, I asked for rapid transformation of these patterns. I drew my hands through the fire, bringing in new energy at my belly, my heart, and my third eye. There were no words for the energies received tonight. That will be revealed in time. I closed the ceremony with gratitude, and smiled at the full moon.
If you cannot build a fire outdoors for some reason, you can also light a candle, and engage in the same ceremonial actions and intentions of release and transformation.
